As this year is reaching to its end and year 2015 is knocking at us, Let us recall the bollywood in 2014 as whom we have lost in this year. In this post we will give obituaries to those famous personalities who are not among us to see new year. 

These are some deaths in 2014 :-

  • Sadashiv Amrapurkar (11,may,1950-3,november,2014): No body in the indian film industry, who didn't know about sadashiv amrapurkar. What?? you didn't remind him!!

    OK! Now you will. You must remind the character of Maharani , the villain eunuch of Movie Sadak.

Sadashiv ji was a veteran actor in indian cinema who was best known for his negative roles in movies but his comedy roles were also praised in movies like coolie no.1, ishq and lots more. A few people know that he was a philanthropist and was helping many social activist societies like Andhshraddha unmullan samiti, snehalya,lokshahi prabodhan vyaspeeth etc. 
Its very sad that he was beaten in 2013 for protesting against wastage of water.

He died this year, in november due to lung disease in kokilaben dhirubhai ambani hospital at the age of 63 years age.


  • Uppalapu Srinivas (Teluguఉప్పలపు శ్రీనివాస్ 28 February 1969 – 19 September 2014): He
    was a mandolin maestro, composer, prodigy. He was considered as Mozart of classical indian music. He was awarded in 1998 with Padma Shri and sangeet natak academi award in 2009.
    He died in Chennai at apollo hospital due to liver failure.

  • Zohra Sehgal (27 April 1912 – 10 July 2014) was an Indian actress and choreographer.[1] Sehgal started her career as a dancer in Uday Shankar's troupe, performing in countries like the United States and Japan. She went on to appear in numerous Bollywood films as a character actress with a career-span of over 60 years.The famous films she was part of, include Neecha Nagar, Afsar (1946), Bhaji on the Beach (1992), The Mystic Masseur (2001), Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Dil Se.. (1998), Saawariya and Cheeni Kum (2007).

    At the age of 90, she got the lead character around whom the story revolved in 2002 film Chalo Ishq Ladaaye, where she had stunt sequences and emotional scenes. Considered the doyenne of Indian theatre, she acted with Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) and Prithviraj Kapoor's Prithvi Theatre for 14 years.
    She died due to cardiac arrest in New Delhi hospital.
  • Nanda (8 January 1939 – 25 March 2014) was an Indian film actress who appeared in Hindi and Marathi films.She was best known for her performances in films like Ittefaq, Joru Ka Ghulam,Neend Hamare Khwab Tumhare, Kanoon, Pati Patni, Gumnaam, Akashdeep,Bedaag and Raja Saab.
  • Sunanda Pushkar (27 June 1964 – 17 January 2014) was an Indo-Canadian businessperson and the wife of Indian minister Shashi Tharoor. She was a sales manager in the Dubai-based TECOM Investments, and a co-owner of the India-based Rendezvous Sports World.
    She was found mysteriously dead in her hotel room at new delhi and this news spread widely as jungle fire. Many 
    Bollywood celebrities like Asha Bhosle, Sridevi and Shabana Azmi have expressed shock and grief at the "sudden" and "unfortunate" demise of Indian Minister of State for Human Resources Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar. They remember her as an exuberant person with a zest for life.

  • Farooq Sheikh (25 March 1948 − 27 December 2013) was an Indian actor, philanthropist and a popular television presenter. He was best known for his work in Hindi films from 1977 to 1989 and for his work in television between 1988 and 2002. 

    He had acted in serials and shows on television and performed on stage in famous productions such as Tumhari Amrita (1992), alongside Shabana Azmi, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, and presented the TV show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (Season 1). He won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Lahore. He died on 27 December 2013 following a cardiac arrest.


  • Prabodh Chandra Dey (Bengali: প্রবোধ চন্দ্র দে) (1 May 1919 − 24 October 2013), known by his stage name Manna Dey (Bengali: মান্না দে), was an Indian playback singer. He debuted in the film Tamanna in 1942, and went on to record more than 4000 songs from 1942 to 2013. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1971, the Padma Bhushan in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007.
    On 8 June 2013, Dey was admitted to the ICU in a Bengaluru hospital after a chest infection gave rise to other complications.His health gradually improved and about a month later doctors took him off the ventilator support.He died of a cardiac arrest at 3:45 pm on 24 October at Narayana Hrudayalaya hospital.Musicians, politicians, cricketers and other notable persons issued statements on his death.

  • Jagdish Raj, who played a cop in 144 films, passed away at his Juhu residence on Sunday morning. He was the father of yesteryear actress Anita Raj.His son in law Rakesh Malhotra said, "He had been in and out of hospital for the past two years and had respiratory problems. He passed away this morning due to respiratory arrest.

    Born as Jagdish Raj Khurana in Sargodha Pakistan the 85 year old actor has acted in movies like Dream Girl, Hum Dono, Johny Mera Naam, Deewar, Imaan Dharam, Gopichand Jasoos, Silsila and Aaina.


  • Khushwant Singh (2 February 1915 – 20 March 2014) was an Indian novelist, lawyer, politician and journalist. An Indo-Anglian writer, Singh was best known for his trenchant secularism, his humour, and an abiding love of poetry. His comparisons of social and behavioural characteristics of Westerners and Indians are laced with acid wit.


     He served as the editor of several literary and news magazines, as well as two newspapers, through the 1970s and 1980s. He was the recipient of Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India.
  • Sudhakar K. Bokade, who produced movies like Izzatdaar, Saajan(salman khan,sanjay dutt fame), Prahaar, Sapne Sajan Ke and Dhanwaan, passed away at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was 57 years old.


    His daughter Divya Bokade confirmed the news and stated, "He was hospitalised on 6th July because he suffered a heart attack, and he passed away on the night of 7th July."
  • Meesai Murugesan was a veteran actor and musician who appeared in Tamil-language films. He starred in more than 100 films and has done supporting roles in various films.

    His career spans over 100 films and he is famous for his roles in Vijay's Poove Unakkaga, Kamal Hassan's Unnal Mudiyum Thambi, Sathyaraj's Amaidhi Padai, Pandiarajan's Aan Paavam and much more. He earned the name "Meesai Murugesan" after sported a thick moustache in his first film Sugamana Raagangal. He passed away due to ill health and blood clots in his brain on Nov 8 2014 at around 4.15pm.He is 87 years of age and is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
  • Ravi Chopra (27 September 1946 – 12 November 2014) was an Indian movie producer and director. He is the son of producer and director Baldev Raj Chopra and nephew of producer and director Yash Chopra. Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra are his cousins. He is known for directing the epic Indian television series Mahabharat.
  • Rudraiah Chockalingam (c.1947 - 18 November 2014) was an Indian film director most known for directing the film, Aval Appadithan (1978) which starred Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Sripriya.
